OnConsumer Reports most recent ranking, Volvo fell 7 spots to land in 19th place amongst major manufacturers. That puts them in the "Less Reliable" grouping on CR's list. I think some of that drop is due to teething problems with their new models.

Itisn’t true that an engine running on regular gas runs more efficiently on premium, because any octane above the required is unnecessary, but it is true of an engine designed for higher octane fuel. Any octane rating higher than what your engine needs is basically wasted because the engine ignites the fuel as soon as it’s ready.

Imnot trying to hate on new Volvos, i bet theyre good cars. But the company is owned by a Chinese car manufacturer and Volvo seems to have lost the spirit it once had.
