27.5+ Vs. 29+ Right now there are two different plus-size options out there: 27 and 29 Plus. The simplest way of thinking about it is this–27.5+ amounts to sticking a 3-inch tire on a wide (45 to 55 millimeter), 27.5-inch rim. Slightly larger is probably ok. With the original 26 x 2.0 tires on the bike, check the clearances. Remember that a 2.1 tire will be both wider and "taller". Look at how much space there is around the tire at the fork crown, where the tire is close to the downtube, where the tire passes between the seat stays, where the tire passes between the
After all it makes sense to have wheels growing proportionally with sizes. 26 died quickly because the difference between 26 and 27.5 was small and 27.5 could be used without issues by any riders. 29 is a bigger gap so you have 2 different applications instead of redundant sizes.
Given that, a wider 26", say 4.8", will have a bigger contact patch than any 27.5. So for traction, 26" wins vs 27.5" as you can run bigger contact patches with 26" than what is possible with 27.5. Also, the wider the rim, the lower pressure you can run. Not sure how wide the widest 27.5" rim is, but 26"x100mm wide rims will allow for lower psi

Tyres of the same size may come with lots of different markings: 28×1¼×15/8, 28×1¾×1¼ or 700×32C, for example, which are all 32-622. Even worse, the same or very similar markings can sometimes be found on completely different sizes of tyre: 26×1½ and 26x1.5. It might be supposed that these two tyres are both notionally 26" diameter uqi8LE.
